Sope Creek is one of my favorite hiking places. It offers everything, from views of the creek to deep woods, with plenty of opportunity for long uphills. Since we had no newcomers, Trena challenged the group with an extra portion of those hills, and we handled them with aplomb.

Linda spotted a solitary Hearts a' Burstin' near the ruins, so I took a picture of it. It's such an unusual flower - - and so beautiful. Later in the hike, she spotted a whole bush full of them. What a treat to see those pretty things.

Summer was looking her finest today. It always makes me happy to see her beautiful face! And we missed Bill Carter today. Hopefully, his broken shoulder will mend quickly. ~ Joyce
