Sat, Nov 18 2017 - GA Park Paddlers Club Series - Paddle 4 Stephen Foster State Park / Okeefenokee Swamp (View Original Event Details)

Gotta love the twice a year time change. The front gate was locked and if you ever visit here you know the visitor center and camp ground are 4-5 miles into the park from the front gate. Not to mention a SECOND gate awaits you should you make the first gate time cut-off.
Cell reception is spooty at the park, so this too becomes an issue. Keep this all in the back of your head if you have people heading out of ATL trying to make the 10pm gate curfew.
Camping wise, the sites are close by but nice. The water is has a sulfur taste, so bring something to toss in your bottle to mask the taste. Owls were rather loud hooting during the night.
The paddle was a lot of fun. Typical tannic water, lots of birds, gators, turtles and a peacful paddle once you get beyond where motorized boat use ends.
Service dogs are permitted on the water but pets are not.
