|
Even though the forecast for the evening was gray skies with a 52% chance of rain, nine outdoor enthusiasts chanced it and met at Glenlake Park for an urban hike around the Decatur. Most of us were from the area, and didn't know that the park was more than just a swimming pool and tennis courts - that there is also a playground, adog park, a basketball court, a picnic pavillion, and of course, trails.
We took those trails around the park to the cemetery to roam around there a bit. Then we exited it and headed to the Square. We stopped at the old library for a quick visit. Then to the courthouse and down Ponce de Leon. We awed over the line that was out the door and into the parking lot of Taqueria del Sol, reputed to be home to the best fish tacos, and vowed to come back to try some.
It turned out to be a perfect evening of sight-seeing and conversations with old members and new. We welcome 2 new members to the AOC: Swan, who was on her first event, and Linda, who was on her 2nd. Welcome, ladies!
