Fri, Dec 15 2017 - West Palisades and Akers Mill Ruins (View Original Event Details)
|
What a great hike this morning at West Palisades, a very under utilized unit of the CRNRA but with some really great trails. It was a bit chilly as we started but after the first climb of the day, we were all warming up.
Many on the hike this morning were at West Palisades for the first time. Today we also visited some of the lesser known corners of West Palisades including a brand new trail down to the Chattahoochee River which might not even be officially open! We helped break it in. We also visited the ruins of the old Akers Mill which are very difficult to find (and challenged us with a pretty steep decent to get to them).
All in all, a great way to spend a Friday morning.
