Never a dull day when hiking on the AT.  On the way to the trail head there where a few drops of rain on the windshields, but all was well as we geared up and headed up Siler Bald.  The climb to the top was made more interesting when we discovered an ice skating ring across the trail.  A couple of us tested our luck on the ice and lost.  Going around included chasing a runaway water bottle down the mountain, twice.  Thanks for retrieving the bottle, Dorothea.  When we got to the top we were treated to breathtaking views of the inside of a cloud.  We then retraced our steps back to Wayah Gap and then on to the top of Wayah Bald.  Don’t be fooled by the elevation profile in the photos, we are pretty sure there are no down hills on the way to the top of Wayah Bald.  At the top, we discovered what is actually inside of clouds, stone fire towers.  Who would have thought?  We then returned to Wayah Gap.  It only rained on us for the last 2 miles of the trip back to the cars.  On the way home, most us celebrated our day by enjoying a Mexican fiesta in Clayton.
