Write Up: What a special hike we had today. First, the rain was over and we had bright sunshine throughout the hike. What a surprise to find the trails in such good shape . . . very few muddy spots, and nothing we couldn't walk around.
Sadly, today was my last hike with Sunae before she leaves with her daughter Ciindy for Scottsdale, AZ. She brought Cindy and Vicky with her on the hike - - and they honored me not only with their presence, but with flowers and traditional Asian pears as well. Sunae had her second AOC hike with me in 2011 and has since shared over 255 hikes with me. I will miss her terribly!
And it was a hike of great fortune. My Hyundai key fob, lost during a hike over 6 weeks ago, was found today! Larry was acting as sweep, and he spotted the fob as we were hiking on the lollipop loop! What luck! (I took the fob to Batteries Plus for a new battery and it actually still works!) Several people (including me, Rick Horowitz, Eva Deva, DaveO, and all of our weekly hikers) have looked for the fob each week with no luck. The cost for replacement was $500 . . . way too much for me to consider.
Susan F. joined our group for lunch as a D-Zero hiker and Suzanne's son, Elliot came, too, making a large group of 16 at the North River Tavern. We missed Carol, my co-lead on the hike, as well as Leigh, who was going to celebrate her 100th AOC event today. Hopefully, they'll be back with us next week. ~ Joyce
