Mon, Feb 19 2018 - Presidents Day Hike - Smith Creek Trail to Anna Ruby Falls (View Original Event Details)
|
The hiking gods were watching over us on our President’s Day hike. We had light rain when we left the carpool lot and it sprinkled most of the way to the trailhead. Undeterred, we started up the trail. The hike treated us to a steep climb to get us all warmed up. After de-layering, we continued on our way taking on a few technical sections of the trail and stream crossings. After a brisk 5 mile hike we arrived at Anna Ruby Falls. With all the rain we have had lately, we were treated to full flowing water falls. An impressive sight! We retraced our steps back to the trailhead. Although it was overcast all day, we did not get rained on at all.
Several of us went to an early dinner in Dahlonega and welcomed Amir and Bruce to the AOC. They both completed their first AOC event by knocking out a 10 mile and 2000 feet of elevation gain D4.
