Tue, Jan 30 2018 - Powers Island & Interstate North Trails (2 for the price of 1) (View Original Event Details)
|
Our group this morning had an enjoyable trek which included two separate CRNRA units. First we hiked at the Cochran Shoals/ Interstate North unit which included several climbs, walks along the Chattahoochee and a walk across the swamp on a boardwalk.
Next we took the bridge across the river to explore the Powers Island unit. We did the loop up to the ridge line and through the ivy cove. While there, we explored the remains of some building foundations which the ivy has almost completely overrun, Then we took a trail long the river back to the parking lot, finishing the 5.6 mile hike in exactly 2 hours. A smaller group got extra credit by crossing the pedestrian bridge and joining me for a short hike around Powers Island itself adding an additional 8/10th of a mile.
