What a beautiful, sunny day to celebrate Larry's 300th AOC hike!  He received a well earned "Joyce" rock, his poster board picture and brownies after the hike to celebrate this wonderful event.  It was also a day of some short goodbyes - Joyce will be out of town for a couple of weeks to spend time with her grandson and Shirley will be traveling to welcome her new grandson - baby to be born "any day now!"  Sharon will be on next week's hike but that will be her last AOC hike as she is moving to Phoenix.  But more about the hike:  we went around the pond and saw some turtles sunning and a stunning mallard enjoying the sun.  We also went down to the ruins as some of our members had never seen th ruins of the old homestead.  We would also like to welcomme Pete O. to our Thursday morning hike.  So with the sun, the celebrations, the grandchildren to talk about, the turtles, the wildlife on the river - these two hours flew by!  Hope to see most of you next week!!  ~  Carol
