We five had a wonderful time hiking together in this gorgeous "lakeside" park unit and were fortunate not to have any rain during the hike although it had been showery earlier.  The wildflowers and native flowering trees & shrubs were especially beautiful, and we enjoyed a superb view of a great blue heron perched on a log in the lake.  Also observed brightly colored cardinals & warblers and evidence of recent beaver activity.  We managed to end the hike right on time - just in time for Dan & Mary and me to connect to the Chattahoochee Nature Center for their delightful "Wild Mushrooms" presentation and delicious potluck dinner. - Posted by Charlie Monday AM, Apr 27th
