The rain stopped before our hike began (of course), so we had a beautifully fresh morning to hike the 24 Gun Trail. We welcomed Suzanne to the AOC, and hope she'll become a regular. As our hike began, we strolled past Pete's new Porsche (see photos) which was an inspiration in itself! Signs of spring were evident throughout the hike with leaves sprouting from what looked like dead trees, dogwood blossoms, pine tree blossoms (which are providing that wonderful layer of yellow on everything outdoors), and huge ant piles created by fireants trying to escape the wet ground. Several of us enjoyed a great southern-style lunch (or late breakfast) at Mountain Biscuit - - a recent favorite of our Monday morning hikers. ~ Joyce
