Congrats to Joyce, Suzanne, Doug, Jeff W. for four years of our Thursday Morning Hike at Island Ford followed by lunch at North River Tavern.  Joyce made a beautiful 4 year commemorative rock and placed it in an area that she hopes no one finds!  This one is meant to stay:). We had a strong group of 23 hikers (pre- approved) who all managed to maintain a nice steady pace even with the hot and humid conditions.  We managed 5.5 miles today - not bad considering the weather.  A second group of hikers  hiked independently (started 15 minutes later and did not follow us) for the occasion.  This made for a great celebration at North River Tavern where we were treated by Chris, the manager, with complimentary chips and salsa, fried pickles and fried mushrooms! We had a great lunch and Joyce followed up with a delicious Four Year Anniversary cake as 25 to 26 of us met for the celebration.  Next week Lisa S. will be leading the hike - please welcome her as we start our 5th year of Island Ford Hiking.  Can't believe it's been that long - time has sure passed by quickly!!  See you all soon. ~ Carol
