What an honor it was to be the substitute TL for Joyce and Carol's weekly Island Ford Thursday hike. Everyone showed up early and we took off right on time. The weather was sunny and gorgeous, with white fluffy clouds making for a picture perfect morning. The humidity was a bit lower too, so we moved right along at a respectable clip down along the river, then up into the woods. We hit a soggy patch on the trail but marched on through, handling the obstacle with aplomb. However, the next "soggy patch" was more like a deep muddy creek running through the trail, so we quickly evaluated and re-routed. We finished strong with the grand finale hill. Afterwards, most joined the traditional celebration at North River Tavern. Sincere thanks to Susan, Shirley, and Larry for taking turns sweeping.         ~ Lisa
