Write Up:I expected muddy trails today because of yesterday's rain . . . but I didn't expect how many trees we'd find blocking our trails! We had to do some maneuvering to get over the obstacles, but the good group that it was, no one complained. We registered a new member just a minute before the hike started (Leigh's good friend, Del), and from the reports I heard, he's a keeper! We also welcomed Jack to our group, one of Sue M.'s recruits, and John, now on his 4th hike. It's always nice to have new members enjoy our hikes enough to keep coming back. They become "vets" very quickly.
Thanks to Joel's watchful eyes, we saw two deer - - an 8 point buck and a pretty doe. I wasn't able to get great shots, but at least one can discern a deer's body in them.
The skies remained overcast for the hike, but we were grateful to be able to have a cool, rain-free morning. Our hike lasted just two hours, so folks were able to leave for home by 10 am. ~ Joyce
