A bit more than we bargined for ride::: We were pretty much the only people out there today, which was welcomed, yet surreal. Today we even had a brand new AOC'er on the roster too, what better way to kick off a 32 mile ride than a 32 mile ride on rain soaked boardwalks and Chattahoochee River overflowing bike paths!?! With the later start we tested the longevity of our light systems, with the rain & low temps we tested the clothing selections we made, but nothing prepared us for the 12" deep flooded bike path at the end of the ride! I mean we knew what we were getting in to as we geared up in a light drizzle, but as you can see in the photo below the river was WAY up today...and even higher at the end of the ride. I stopped and snapped that photo at the beginning of the ride, but by the time we got back to that section again (31 miles later) the base of that bench was UNDER the water line...and that section of the bike path that goes under Atlanta St/Roswell Rd was easily 12" below the water line...and yeah, I had to attempt passing thru it...only to get slowed up by the depth - each pedal stroke to continue through it submerged my feet pedal stroke by pedal stroke...at least we were almost done :) what a great ride! Welcome to the AOC Wen Ping!
