It was supposed to be Wynn's hike, but a morning fever changed his plan, giving me the good fortune of leading both the last AOC hike of 2018 (yesterday) and the first AOC hike of the new year! The trails were very wet and we got caught by a rain shower during the hike, but these factors didn't dampen our spirits. In fact, we were treated to a different kind of woodland beauty with mist over the river, a stillness on the trails, and the sparkle of raindrops on nearby shrubs. A great blue heron was watchful for its lunch, always a special sighting on a hike. One thing is certain - - a hike is a great way to welcome in the new year. Happy 2019 everyone! ~ Joyce
