We had 13 hikers on today's hike at Pine Log Creek, 11 of who were hiking Pine Log Creek for the very first time.  If was a cold morning start but we quickly warmed up as we tackled the not easy climb on the west loop first.  After reaching the summit we took a brief break before heading down the switchbacked trail down to and along a creek bed. 

After finishing the west loop, we next took on the east loop all the way to the old Civilian Conservation Corps stone quarry. It was at the quarry where we finally caught a glimpse of that illusive old frog and we all saw it.  We finished a few more ups and downs before reaching the parking lot.  We covered 5.1 miles and nearly 800 feet of gain in 2:15 hours.  

We had a hiker on todays event who is new to the AOC.  Warren W. was on his very first event with the club and we look forward to seeing him future AOC events. ~ Holt
