Well we got a brief break in the week long rain so we took the opportunity to do this last minute hike of the Kolb/ Cheatham Hill loop at Kennesaw Mountain.  The group of 18 hikers kept together which allowed us to move quickly through the woods.  We started by taking the Assault trail to Cheatham Hill to allow us to experience what the Union troops experienced in the 1864 battle as they charged across open land and up the hill.  Next we headed out to the loop itself and saw the extensive field fortifications utilized by both sides of the battle. 

Finally after 5.5 miles of hiking we arrived back at our cars in exactly 2 hours.  A special shout out to three relatively new members of the AOC on our hike today.  Mike S was on his 5 th AOC event, Dennis S was on his 3rd and Barbara D was on her 2nd.  Welcome to each of you and we look forward to seeing you again soon on an AOC event. ~ Holt
