A CRISP day meandering around Vickery Creek Section of CRNRA!
Twelve hearty souls met up at the mill, with a curve ball thrown into our route--roofing the covered bridge prevented our crossing. After a quick tour of the mill ruins, we had to drive to the Oxbo parking lot. Russ had the territory scoped out, and when we all re-united, off we went, over the hill, through the subdivision and across the Riverside bridge. Then we got really toasty marching up to Allenbrook House and down to the overlook of Big Creek, which was really flowing fast today and covering all the ledges and boulders. Nobody opted for crossing on the 12" pipe, for some reason...
We picked a "developing trail" on the way back to Riverside, and it will soon be a nice alternative to the sidewalk and flooded riverside trail once some light brushing is done. Leaving the parking lot, we shed a few layers, and enjoyed the blue sky and great views through the woods.
Today was Marty's first D3!! Congratulations on your achievement and continued stamina. It was great to have Dennis all the way up from Peachtree City.
Thanks for a great outing, a little hearty breathing, hardly any whining, and lots of great conversation. See you down the trail,
Allen and Russ
