Tue, Mar 19 2019 - Sope Creek Mill Ruins and More (View Original Event Details)
|
We had beautiful weather for our hike at Sope Creek this morning. 20 hikers joined for our hike which first visited the mill ruins on the west bank of Sope Creek. Afterwards, we crossed the Sope Creek bridge and visited the far more extensive east bank paper mill ruins. Along the way we learned a little about the history of the mills which dated back to the 1850s.
After the ruins, we criss crossed the Sope Creek park and visited three creeks (Sope, Fox and Sibley), the Sibley pond and other points of interest. We hiked on some official and unofficial trails as we clocked nearly 5 miles in 2 hours. ~ Holt
