Hard to believe that we are at the end of September with temperatures still creeping into the 90's! However, after the recent downpour the day before yesterday, humidity was high, and we felt it! Our pace was very moderate and the group well-seasoned, so we stayed together well and enjoyed being in the woods.

We had two exceptional wildlife sightings today. First, a very mature doe who first appeared far into the woods. Dan and I hung back after the group hiked on and the doe kept coming toward us, crossing the trail quite close to where we were standing! Soon after, the group spotted a snake beside the trail, which I think was a garter snake. It was beautifully colored - - and harmless.

Popsicles were well appreciated when we returned to the parking lot. (Thanks, Trena!) ~ Joyce
