Well we are getting our moneys worth with this summer that won't end.  It was toasty today as we tackled the Kolb Farm loop at Kennesaw Mountain.  We did the loop counterclockwise this time which is a change.  The group kept together nicely so we were able to keep at a fairly brisk pace, even in the heat.  That did not stop us from stopping from time to time along the way to learn a little of the history of the battle of Kolb Farm.  We finished our hike by visiting the Illinois Monument before descending the hill the Union forces charged up in late June, 1864 before crossing the field and arriving back at our cars.  The 5.5 mile hike took us almost exactly 2 hours.

We did have a few newcomers to the club on the hike today.  Luisa S and Stephanie C were each on their 6th AOC event and Sherrie G was on her very first AOC event.  Welcome to each of you and we look forward to seeing you on future AOC events.  ~ Holt
