Things were looking a bit inauspicious as we gathered for our hike, as a tree full of buzzards perched nearby, as if they saw our group as food for a feast! Little did they know how wrong they were. We've hiked these trails so many times, we're fit for the challenge . . . and a challenge we had. We kept a very healthy pace throughout the hike, and though we got in at least 5 miles, it feel short (I'm sure) of Bunnie's GPS reading of 6+ miles.

After the hike, 17 of us met at the North River Tavern where Russ's Vickery Creek group soon gathered as well. We had 27 people filling the back room today! Luckily, the restaurant was fairly empty, so they were happy for the business. However, with just one server for the entire group, things were SLOW.  

We missed Carol today. It's always nice to have her in charge of things with me. But Susan and Dan C. stayed back throughtout most of the hike, keeping watch over the group that I couldn't see. ~ Joyce
