Fri, Nov 29 2019 - #OptOutside Hike and Meditation (View Original Event Details)
|
The weather cooperated quite nicely today, it was overcast with beautiful muted sunlight, the occasional ray of full brightness shining through. We had the park mostly to ourselves, passing just a few small groups of human and canine hikers. We encountered a great blue heron right away, showing off its impressive wingspan as it flew off. Lots of other water birds were out on the river, geese and ducks and cormorants mingling in the shoals.
We got some miles in, then found a perch alongside the banks of the Chattahoochee for a brief guided meditation. With awareness of each of our senses heightened, we ended our event with the conviction to revisit that mindful place whenever we need it. Getting in touch with nature is a wonderful stress reliever. We got a great taste of that today.
