We modified the event and started at the visitor center and completed the up and over both Big K and Little K - we returned the same way.  We stayed together and were careful with the slick rocks.  The trail and landscape was a blanket of gold leaves.  Quite beautiful.  We were glad we did the hike and I'm pretty sure at the end that everyone was headed out for some warm meals.
