We totally lucked out on weather today!  Sunny, blue skies with temps in the 50's.  Hikers started shedding layers even before the hike started and by the end of the hike, several of us were in short sleeves.  Susan managed to make her way up the warm up hill with no one close to contest her.  We hiked around the pond (although it looks more like a big mud puddle presently), went on the tail of the lollipop trail and transversed the trails of Island Ford.  The trails were in much better shape today but more and more trees have been infected by the pine beetles and are falling down:(. Overall, today was a great hike;  ran into Allen and company and another group of three where one of the folks is a member of the AOC.  Just to prove that today was indeed a great day to hike! ~ Carol
