Write Up:Joyce, Christine, Helena and I had a good time yesterday afternoon with our "storytelling ranger" friend Jonah and about 20 other eager Park volunteers. The weather couldn't have been better for January - sunny and in the mid-60s! We focused on removing invasive plants in the vicinity of the historic Decatur Water Works. Joyce, Christine, Helena and I had a good time yesterday afternoon with our "storytelling ranger" friend Jonah and about 20 other eager Park volunteers. The weather couldn't have been better for January - sunny and in the mid-60s! We focused on removing invasive plants in the vicinity of the historic Decatur Water Works. While "privet pulling" some of us discovered and unearthed an old granite stairway that had been covered deep in decaying dead trees and leaf litter for the better part of the past century.- Submitted by Charlie, Mon AM Jan 13th
p.s. Many thanks to our AOC "Photojournalist par excellence" Joyce for the fine job she did photographing the event and sharing her colorful Facebook album with us: https://www.facebook.com/joyce.taaffe/media_set?set=a.10158415683070260&type=3

"Jonah McDonald is now a park ranger at Mason Mill Park - - and he has been quite busy organizing events to entertain the public as well as creating volunteer events to improve the park. Today, Charlie recruited a group of AOC members to join Jonah's volunteers to pull privet and wisteria in sections of the park. We felt that we made a difference in just a couple of hours of work!"
