What a challenging morning! Time came to make a decision about today's hike as torrential rains came down in our area. It became a moot point, as the AOC website was down! No way to contact participants or to even know who was on the hike. The weather report was borderline with the front moving through soon . . . but soon enough? Since I couldn't cancel, I decided to keep the hike active and just get wet. I contacted Allen, suggesting we combine the two Island Ford hikes, since we'd have plenty of drops. It worked out just fine. With both groups together we had 14 people - - perfect for what turned out to be a rainless (albeit a bit muddy) hike!
It was really nice to meet someone new (Sam, Allen's friend), and to see some folks who haven't been on my hike in a while (Mike S., George, Bonnie, Ed, and Wendell). ~ Joyce
