Sat, Jan 25 2020 - Easy Nature Hike with Ranger & Author Jonah McDonald, celebrating the Chinese New Year! (View Original Event Details)
|
We and other fans of Mason Mill Park had a great time together and learned a lot on this memorable walk through the woods guided by our DeKalb County ranger friend Jonah and his "herbalist" co-host, Leslie. They did an amazing job helping us identify dozens of beautiful plants & trees and discussing fascinating things about them including their medicinal uses. Jonah mentioned that they considered it esp. appropriate to offer this event on the first day of the Chinese New Year since China is so famous for its herbal drinks and remedies.
Special thanks to our AOC "Photojournalist par excellence" Joyce for the fine job she did photographing the event and sharing her colorful Facebook album with us: https://www.facebook.com/joyce.taaffe/media_set?set=a.10158415683070260&type=3

Joyce's Album Notes:
"Jonah and herbalist Leslie Williams hosted a 2-hour stroll through a portion of Mason Mill park to inform folks from the area about medicinal plants, trees, and shrubs common to the area. Charlie supported Jonah's event by posting a coordinating event through the AOC. Fifteen members joined the community folks for an imressively large group of eager learners. How nice to have Charlie supporting his neighborhood park by adding AOC members to the volunteer clean-up events and educational walks through Mason Mill Park."
