After weathering monsoon weather for a couple of days, we were able to get our hike in at Red Top Mountain State Park.  We covered the white trail, homestead trail and the sweet gum trail.  The day started out quite chilly but once we started hitting the hills, we all warmed up and started dropping layers. 

The lake was low and made for some interesting views when we dropped near the shoreline.  One the homebound leg we diverted from the homestead trail to visit an old homestead ruined chimney.  The group stayed together and we kept a fairly brisk pace, finishing our 5.5 mile hike about 20 minutes early.  ~  Holt
