What started out with threatening skies turned out to be a great day for a hike at Pine Mountain. We finished our hike mostly dry with only a few sprinkles on the last descent. We headed up the left side of the west loop, reaching the David Archer overlook at the 1600 foot summit of Pine Mountain.
After taking in the views of Lake Allatoona, downtown Cartersville and Kennesaw Mountain, we started our descent down the east loop. We stopped briefly at Whiskey Hollow before starting the climb back to the summit. One final descent and we arrived back at our cars and the end of our 5.5 mile, 1700 foot gain hike. A special welcome to Caroline T who was on her 4th AOC event. ~ Holt
