Write Up:
Our fearless group of paddlers had an awesome outing on Lake Allatoona. We launched from Red Top Mountain and paddled south to Holiday Harbor where we stopped for lunch at the Allatoona Grill. The food and fellowship was so good that we lingered for an hour and a half. Which made us late starting the return paddle. About half way back we encountered a severe thunderstorm. Lots of lightning so we stopped on land and enjoyed a downpour for about 45 minutes. With a break in the rain we relaunched to return to the put in. About a mile from the ramp the storm hit again with a 30 mph head wind. Ann was paddling as hard as she could but the wind was blowing her boat backwards. Luckily a power boat stopped and gave her a ride back to the launch site. George was the hero of the day as he towed her boat back paddling against the fierce wind. A great time had by all!
