The morning started sunny with an unexpected temperature in the mid 60’s and ending with temperature in the mid 70’s. If fall has come early none of us were complaining.

The hike proceeded mostly in accordance with the published plan. It became a figure 8 versus a counterclockwise loop. As we approved the Illinois Monument, we found the trail blocked by a fallen tree, see picture, going around this obstacle we were able to enjoy the monument and get a great group picture.
