It's Labor Day, so we got an earlier start for our Monday morning hike to avoid a crowded parking lot and trail. (It worked for most of the hike, but business was picking up during our last half hour. When we returned to the parking lot, it was pretty full.

The hike was great. Cooler temperatures and lower humidity made the hike super-pleasant. Our pace was very moderate, so we didn't make 5 miles . . . but we tacked a couple of the big hills, so we got in some good exercise.

We passed Allen with his small group of renegade hikers - - Bunnie, Dan C., and Evy. We were close to Holt's trail to the Akers Mill ruins, so Allan W. led Allen D.'s group see them while the rest of us continued on with our hike. We took an alternate route (thank you, Holt) back to the road and walked across to take the new trail back to the parking lot. Gerrilyn was very happy that we were back right on time. Nor surprises!
