Mon, Oct 5 2020 - Monday Morning at Jones Bridge (View Original Event Details)
|
Today, since the trails were so dry and views of the river so beautiful, we stayed along the river trail from one end of Jones Bridge to the other . . . then made a loop and returned by the same trail.
We were treated to views of what I identified as a heron, but on looking at the photos, realize it was a cormorant. The short legs and webbed feet were a dead giveaway. We also saw two groups of deer grazing on the fallen walnuts and vegetation near the trail. . . probably 6 deer in all, though they were too far too get many photos.
We nearly lost our 10% of the group on the far trails, but luckily, some shouting helped us locate him. It would have been a big loss: he's a trip leader! :-) ~ Joyce
