Wed, Oct 14 2020 - Wednesday Morning at Red Top Mountain State Park (View Original Event Details)
|
It was an absolutely beautiful morning and a perfect locale to celebrate Rocky's 200th AOC event! The water in Allatoona Lake was clear and calm, the trails were wide and soft on the feet, and the entire 2 hours couldn't have been more enjoyable.
Holt kept a healthy but manageable pace throughout the hike, and took a few trails that were not on the map so that we could better access views of the lake. At one point, we were able to look across the lake to see both the Allatoona Dam and Pine Mountain. We also took a trail past the old homestead (on the Homestead Trail!) to see the still-standing old chimney.
Rocky surprised the group by actually agreeing to a couple of photos of herself that could commemorate this special event!
Sadly, a couple of last minute drops this morning reduced the participants for our hike to just 8 people. Hopefully, our exuberant friendliness made up for our small number! ~ Joyce
