Write Up:
Well this midweek hike was canceled, then uncanceled and then turned out to be a fun adventure.  We had perfect weather for this one for early fall...crips cool temps, windy and not a cloud in the sky.   We started out at the Andrews Cove trailhead and it was mostly all uphill for about 4 1/2 miles to the top of Tray Mtn...gaining about 2500 feet.

We checked out some overlooks near the top of the mtn and then headed down to Steeltrap gap just to get some extra mileage in.  The 1000 foot cllimb on the back was definitely challening.   After another visit to the sweet overlook (see pics coming soon), we headed back down...along the way we saw a bear climbing a tree and a stray dog that we fed a couple of powerbars and tried to get back to the trailhead so we could take it to a shelter or find its owner.  Unfortunately it ran away again after following us for about 4 miles...very frustrating but at least we got it closer to civilization and with a full belly too.

So it was a classic N Ga hike and we hope to get back up to Tray mtn again in a few weeks near peak fall foliage.
