Beautiful morning at Sweetwater. Weather was cool - when we arrived we all found parking although the lots were pretty full, when we left there were people waiting to take our spots. The trail down near the Manchester Mill was pretty crowded but the trails that we chose for the majority of our hiking were fairly lightly traveled, we encountered a few masked and un-masked hikers, quite a few dogs and kids too. Some treacherous areas on the red trail - those big boulders, some stairs that were missing steps but we all made it. No casualties until the last 3 minutes when I took a pretty hard spill on a very level unexciting section of trail - one small stump in the middle of the path and I guess I took my eyes off my feet for just a second- bruised knee, gash on my arm but I'll survive.
There was lots of activity near the bridge that goes over to the yellow, orange trails - many cars, camera equipment, lots of people milling around - I asked one of them what was going on and he said a film shoot for Sun Trust Bank. Don't know if that was the truth or a ruse to keep us out of the area. We just contined on with our exploration of the yellow trail. we got in 7 miles in 2 3/4 hours.
Thanks to all for joining me. Sweetwater is always an AOC favorite. Check out photo album - Joyce and Lee were the photographers for the day - thanks so much to both of you for providing some great shots.
