Write Up:Glorious day on the trail. Five strong hikers left Patterson Gap on the blue blazed Grassy Ridge Trail and quickly ascended to their first objective, Grassy Ridge Peak. At 4,400 ft, this is #8 on the Georgia 4K peak challenge. A quick breather, and the group descended the peak to rejoin the trail at Nichols Gap to ascend to the AT at Carter Gap. Another 6.3 miles NOBO on the AT and a bit of rock scrambling, we reached to the fire tower the incredible views of our second objective, Albert Mountain. After a short break for refueling, we were back on our way back the way we came another 5 miles to a scenic overlook to enjoy our lunch. Finally, another 4.5 miles back to Carter and leaving the AT, taking the Grassy Ridge Trail back down to our cars. All told, beautiful weather and enjoyment was had by all!
