How nice it was to have a hike full of old friends plus one new friend, Ann. Everyone showed up for the hike early, so we were able to be hiking by 1 pm, if not a few minutes before.

Most of the trails were free of people, and only a couple of bikers forced us to move aside. We hiked about 5.5 miles and kept the pace healthy enough to enable us to stay warm, but not so fast that we couldn't share conversation.

Holt helped me get un-lost a couple of times, but that's one of the reasons he's so welcome on hikes.

Oddly, the temperature dropped during our hike so that we ended colder than when we started! We saw several deer on the hike, but they were too elusive and distant for good pictures. I think they're an omen of good luck on a hike! ~ Joyce
