Thu, Jan 28 2021 - Pine Log Creek - In Search of the Frog (View Original Event Details)
|
What a cold, cold morning we had with windchills in the mid 20s but the sun was out and we were grateful the biggest climb of the day came at the beginning of the hike to help warm us up. Pine Log Creek was beautiful this morning with all the steep hills we traversed and the deep valleys we hiked along.
After completing the west loop, we headed to the east loop and the old CCC quarry where we all found that elusive frog hiding along the shore of the quarry pond. The group was moving quite well today and we were finishing early so we did another lap of a portion of the West loop before heading back to our cars. We ended up clocking in at 5.3 miles and about 800 feet of elevation. All in all, a very nice, chilly January hike. ~ Holt
