Oh, that fickle weather report! A check at 7 am gave us a beautiful window of opportunity for our hike, but much can change in a few hours. The rain came sooner than forecasted, and as soon as we started to hike, it began to sprinkle. Then, we heard thunder and the downpour began, which didn't let up until we got back to our cars (after cutting the hike short by 45 minutes). We were wet and cold, even through our rain jackets, and the trails turned into little rivers, with some of them impossible to hike without getting boots submerged in rainwater.

Amazingly, all 10 people who were on the registration list last night showed up for the hike this morning- - such loyal troopers. I really do appreciate how supportive they are.

There was no competition on the warm-up hill. Michelle took an immediate lead and lead the group the entire way up the road. (She also detoured from the parking lot as we finished the hike to go up that hill once more!)

The rain bubble - - full of water - - burst upon us this morning! ~ Joyce
