Happy Valentine's Day, Everyone! We not only had a full group of 10 on our official hike, but Dr. Barbara created a renegade hike with folks stuck on the waiting list. We all arrived at the parking lot at the same time, but our groups went separate ways as soon as we started hiking.

Valentine's Day did not go uncelebrated! Shirley brought festive Chinese confections to celebrate the Chinese new year, Claudia brought after-hike candy, Joyce brought bags of candy for the official hikers, and Dr. Barbara brought homemade cookies which she shared with both groups! Yay, Valentine's Day!

The sun never showed its face today, and the trails in Cochran Shoals really suffered from the rain plus the bicycles. We had to work our way around some of the muddiest spots - - and our boots all showed our lack of success in avoiding the thick mud.

Nevertheless, we had a great 5 mile hike and enjoyed the fine trail company. ~ Joyce
