Write Up:This was a last minute posting that got 8 registrations quickly but unfortunately 3 had health issues that prevented them from attending and one fortunately got a job interview after a year of searching. The weather was kind to us as we got the only non rainy few hours in the last few weeks. Vineyard Mountain is one of the best close in hikes that you can do as a D3 or D4 depending on your route. There are 3 trails: Yellow - moderate; Blue - difficult; and Red - Strenuous. We did all three. Non of the trails have any flat spots so the hike never gets boring. Due to the high elevation the flooding of Lake Allatoona only covered a very small part of the Yellow trail which gave us an opportunity for a little bushwhacking. A good time had by all as we did the 6 1/2 miles in 3 hours with only minimum breaks for water and photo ops.
