Another awesome AOC group! Nine hikers taking a new approach trail to Rabun Bald. Roughly 4 miles on the big ridge trail, intersecting with the Bartram Trail near the top. There was a lot of fire damage along this trail but someone has done a ton of work to clear it and make it passable, but the views were stunning! We encountered very few obstacles. You pick this up near an old cemetery on FS155, parking at Duck’s Nest Gap. The trail starts as a closed fire service road at the gap that quickly reaches a fire service clearing. The trail continues on the opposite side of the clearing ascending quickly from there. The trail is easy to follow after that. 

After taking in views at the Rabun fire tower, heading back down to Flint Gap and then Alex mountain trail to Flint Knob. Having lunch and taking in more views, we went back the way we came. Two Georgia 4K peaks, 10+ miles and 3,300 ft elevation gain. All around great day on the trail.
