Mon, Jul 19 2021 - Monday Morning at West Palisades from Akers Mill Road Entrance - (View Original Event Details)

I really struggled this morning over whether or not to cancel the hike. Rain was definitely in the forecast, but the radar map suggested that we might catch a break between 10 am to 12. It would be a close call, but worth trying.
Our group dwindled to 6 members, but we six were so glad to be able to get in 5 miles without getting rained upon! And it was a close call. As we walked up the entrance road to our cars, sprinkles started - - but by scurrying along, we were able to get safely into our cars before the rain came.
We took an unusual route to avoid areas I knew would be muddy. That put us onto the Bob Callan Trail for part of the hike. We saw evidence of trail closures that the CRNRA volunteers worked on. Although I hate not to use some of those trails, I have to be a good steward of our parks for future generations, and avoid them. ~ Joyce
