Write Up:Seven bright eyed AOC hikers scorned the wet weather forecast and enjoyed a rainless hike up to the Len Foote Hike Inn. The Hike Inn staff gave us a typically warm and enthusiastic welcome, inviting us to partake in snacks and drinks in the dining room. One member had recently completed the southern half of the Appalachian Trail, and we were excited to hear of his accomplishment. We gawaked at a fearless and calm Black Rat Snake which crossed our path during the descent, and subsequently, inexplicably, brainstormed a solar powered zip-line for the Vickery Creek unit of the CRNRA. Fortunately, the AOC volunteer liaison for the unit was part our group and appeared captivated by the idea, so it may have a future. The hike ended in blue skies and brilliant sunshine as we purchased cold beverages at the park visitor center.
