Heading to two mountains, our fun loving group met up at the Ingles in Hiawassee and consolidated into two vehicles for the short drive down the unpaved forest service road. A short walk to the trailhead we we were on our way to the summit of Eagle Mountain. The old logging roads were wet but still easily followed and after a few critical turn, we found ourselves at the top. Shame we got to the overlook on Eagle a bit too early, not many views but we enjoyed our lunch in the clouds and views from Bell more than made up for it. half the group decided to make the short bushwhack to Bell while the rest drove up the steep paved road. we all enjoyed the views of Lake Chatugue and the surrounding mountains, including our previous objective, Eagle. A good day indeed.
