Thu, Sep 30 2021 - Thursday Morning Semi-Fitness Hike at Island Ford (View Original Event Details)
|
Good-bye September!
What a great day for hiking we had, probably the last warm Thursday of the year. The pace was strong, so we finished at 5.5 miles, and that's including a long stop to see the Asian Joro spiders at the Visitor Center.
Val is a newcomer to the AOC, but after hiking with us last Thursday, she was familiar with the warm-up hill and made it easily to the top in first place!
We passed three wait-list renegades who were all dressed in blue . . . probably symbolic of their sadness for not making the active list today. :-)
The river trail on the loop has some fallen trees that make it really difficult to get through, especially with mud along the way.
Regina and Tracy treated us with honey cake after the hike - - saved (frozen) from the delicious Rosh Hashanah dinner at Regina's home. ~ Joyce
