Mon, Mar 7 2022 - Monday Morning at Powers Island and Cochran Shoals (View Original Event Details)
|
Lucky, lucky us to get in a great 5.5 mile hike before the rains came. The overcast skies and nice breeze kept the temperature down, but we were all quite comfortable in our short sleeves thanks to that initial first long climb on the Powers Island side of the river.
We met another challenging hill as we entered the woods in the Interstate North section of the CRNRA, but following that climb, the rest of the hike was fairly easy.
It was great to see JoJo W. back hiking with the AOC after years away; and we were so happy to welcome Jennifer into the club. She had already befriended a couple of members even though this was just her 4th AOC event.
After hiking through the Interstate North section of Cochran Shoals, we re-crossed the river and had enough time to complete the trail around Powers Island. Thankfully, those trails were dry . . . which won't be the case after this afternoon's rain.
Lee's photos and Gerrilyn's photo have been added to the album. Thanks for taking them.
And MANY thanks for that sweet celebration, Gerrilyn. ~ Joyce
